This year, I decided to ditch the ritual of “resolutions”.
Honestly, in the past, I have always had issues sticking to the “I will do this”, “I won’t do that” ideas that accompany my list of new year resolutions. By the end of the first week of the first month (at most), I am back to doing the things I told my self I would stop doing and sometimes never even embarking on the list of things I wanted to do in the new year.
Toward the end of the year 2017, I decided to do something a little different. Instead of making the traditional new year resolutions, I decided to just set realistic goals for myself. You know realistic things that I know would help me become better.
The conclusion that I came to is that in order to make 2018 my year I have to strive to DO BETTER in whatsoever I find myself doing.
It is always better to be Doing!
The Bible states in Ecclesiastes 9:10 a, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might”. I love how the Message version of the Bible puts it. It states, “Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily!”
The mindset for me this year is simple, “If I have to do something I better be doing it with the whole of my heart”. I finally realized that there is absolutely no gain to doing something half-heartedly.
I am fully aware of the fact that there will be temptations to do things haphazardly but the aim is to not allow the temptations stand in my way.
Tell me, are you innterested in doing better?
